Baby, it’s cold outside! At the time of this writing, we’re starting the New Year in a prolonged stretch of sub-zero temperatures. We appreciate the efforts of our club members who have been out in the cold helping get the trails ready by clearing downed trees, cutting back low ice-covered branches, opening gates, maintaining equipment, and, of course, grooming. Current riding conditions are still early-season, but with a nice solid base and snow in the forecast, we’re all looking forward to an excellent season!

Please plan on joining us on February 18 at the Grantham Recreation Park for the Blue Mountain dog sled race! The race is being held in collaboration with North Country Mushers and the Town of Grantham. This community event hopes to provide a fun race for competitors and spectators, as well as education about dog sledding and snowmobile safety. There will be two races: a 6 dog team 18-mile course and a 8 dog team 28-mile course, covering a portion of our trails as well those of our neighboring club, Blow-Me-Down Snowriders (thanks BMD!). See our website and Facebook page for additional details.

A reminder to slow down and share the trail system safely with other users enjoying hiking, snowshoeing, biking, cross-country skiing, dog sledding, etc. Try to stop sometimes, take off your helmet, and say hello to strengthen our good community relations.

Please join us for our regular club meetings held on the first Tuesday of each month at 6:30pm in the lower level of the Grantham Town Hall. It was great to see three members ride their sleds into our January meeting. Whether you’re new or old to the sport, it is a great way to connect and share tips with other riders and trail users, and learn how you can volunteer and help maintain and grow our sport. Let it snow!
